Why I keep a calm adventure game for the end of the day

September 6, 2026 · Marek Dvořák

Not every evening calls for a fast game. Some nights I just want to tap through something gentle and let my brain cool off, and that's where slow adventures earn their place on my home screen.

Lantern Hollow is my current favorite for this. It's a quiet point-and-tap about lighting up a valley, with no timers and no fail states. The art does most of the work, and the puzzles are just tricky enough to keep me present without stressing me out.

There's a practical bonus too: these games barely touch the battery, since most of the screen is still art. I can play for half an hour before bed and my phone is still mostly charged in the morning.

If your library is all competitive, fast, demanding stuff, I'd gently suggest adding one calm adventure. It changes how you feel about putting the phone down.
